If faith yields good works, how does your Christian community interact with members who do not have high yields?

If I accept I am saved by faith alone but faith yields good works (James 2:14-26) I am curious how this plays out in your specific Christian community, when someone just isn’t doing that much? Also, do you see any tension between this position and penal substitution atonement?
