1Cor 15 speaks of the transformation of us from earthly to spiritual. A putting on of incorruption. No death, aging, disability, etc. This will be done "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye" so there's no transitional timeframe. So if we're transformed into an incorruptible form as Jesus or His angels are, why would there be a need to wipe tears away? Tears of what? Pain? No. Death? No. Memories? Perhaps. Even though it says that there is no more pain nor death, we still have tears of something to wipe away. That would leave memories. The memory of the pain and death we left. Tears of rememberance. These tears are wiped away, and (imo) the memories that came with them. Why? Because if we remembered those painful times, we'd weep again. Or if they're tears of joy... Why would God wipes those away? It would be an honest, heartfelt expression of our love and gratitude towards God's saving Grace and redemption. Which would be the reason we'd worship God for all eternity is because we'd remember why. But the only way to truly never cry about anything again, is to forget what it was in the first place.
This is all I'm saying, memories produce emotional responses. Without the rememberance, any action would have to be done as a hollow gesture. Like the angels. Created for the purpose of worship and nothing more. No fellowship, no "Hi Jesus! How ya doin?" conversations with He who saved us, redeemed us, and brought us into His house for ever and ever. Just seems like a hollow existence if we don't know why we're there other than "This is what we do. Worship"
I'm not saying God isn't worthy of it, because yes He is. He made all things. I'm just saying I want to remember why I'm worshipping Him, so I do it from a loving heart and not just because I'm supposed to. Let's liken this to something earthly (as Jesus did to explain a point in a parable)... Marriage. Do we marry someone because we're supposed to? Or because we love them and want to be with them? If we don't remember the why, then a marriage is just a hollow act. And this is why I hope we have a memory of why we are in heaven. Because we remember. But as I've been replied to in this thread "there's no scriptural evidence to support claims of memory wipe"... There's no scriptural evidence to support there isn't either. And it's on this that I feel there is because of all the references (which I have shown in chapter and verse) of how we are changed, things are new, the old is gone, etc.
What's not said in scripture can be as important as what is said. Scripture doesn't support dinosaurs, but yet we have proof they were here. Sure, leviathan and behemoth. Too many "interpretations" of those to be concrete evidence. Unicorn and dragon are mentioned. Where's their evidence? Again, "interpretations" differ vastly. So while I'm being told I have no scriptural proof to back up what I claim, I've yet to see scriptural proof to prove me otherwise. Beside another scripture to prove a point with a different aspect other than what I'm talking about. Eternity. Not the here and now "transformation" we have when becoming new in Christ.
I've shown reference to what happens to us in heaven. What we become, what we do. The only scripture I found about a memory in the afterlife was in reference to the rich man and Lazarus. Of which, I was "corrected" about that particular "hell" and it's original word in the Greek.
All I'm asking is 'where is there scriptural proof that we keep our memories when we get to heaven'? That's it. I say there isn't, and get schooled on emotions, word origins, and feelings.
