Hey, fellow Canadians! I know The Tragically Hip are practically national icons, but after giving them a listen, I have to admit I don’t fully get the appeal. I didn’t grow up listening to them, and I’m just slightly too young to remember their prime era, so maybe that’s part of it.
I’d love to hear from those who did experience their peak – what is it about The Hip that resonates so deeply with Canadians? Is it something in their lyrics, the themes they explore, or just the timing of their music? Any personal stories or insights would be great
Edit: is there a lot of hip fans from Quebec? If so I'm particularly interested if it resonated with them as much as the ROC
