Why are fruits in Canada so sweet and seedless?

Tangerines, mangoes, grapes, oranges, to mention a few, are overwhelmingly sweet, and some are proudly sold and labeled as "seedless."
I can't recall fruits back home being that sweet. The ones we get here feel almost artificial.
Is this because they're transgenic?
