What's the most culturally-rich way to travel the UK?
Post Body

I've never been to the UK, nor have I ever been close to someone British. I live in Taiwan 9000 kilometres away, so that should probably say a thing or two about my former exposure to the UK. But in less than 8 months I would be starting three years of my collegiate life in London. I don't exactly panic about college life per say, as I'm always open to trying new and unfamiliar things, but it's just something about the rarity of this chance to explore so deeply a country so foreign that is, well, driving me to make this post.

Studying abroad in a world so interconnected today, you often end up wasting all your time eating your own country's food, meeting only friends from a culture you are familiar with, and basically NOT living a life different from the one you already have lived. Three years is a long time, and I really do wish to experience and hopefully enjoy to the fullest what the UK has to offer and perhaps teach me about. I love culture, and even more so, I truly enjoy traditions and heritage in a cultural sense. That is not only reflected in my attitude towards the subject of my own studies (Architecture), but I always think these things adds depth to a person's holistic development.

Hence I have the plan to visit as many places in the UK as possible, starting at least from all of the ceremonial counties of England. To meet and befriend as many Britons as possible. To taste what is truly British (trust me I'm new to the game so I'm going to give it a chance). To see what is British. You get the point.

So I really need your help in giving me some suggestions on how I can possible achieve these goals of mine, on how I can make use of the three years of college in the UK and enjoy the best of this island. Maybe ways to travel the island, ways to meet more Britons, events or societies to join.
