Sunday pub hours
I was born in 1980, spent my early childhood being forced to watch my dads pub league football team play on Sunday mornings, then being dragged with them to the pub after the game whilst the team all had a after match pint until the pub shut for lunch. Then we would go back home for a roast that my mum would have spent all morning cooking, then the whole family would all go back down the pub when it reopened, until closing. Remember Sunday pub lunch closings vividly, but have only just found out that it wasn’t until 1995 that pubs were finally allowed to stay open all day on a Sunday! My minds blown! I’d obviously escaped the family Sundays down the pub before I was 15 so I just don’t remember, but I’m sure my parents were gleeful that Sunday drinking was no longer interrupted! What’s your memories of Sundays at the pub pre 1995? I can almost smell the panda pops and salt and shake crisps….
