Why is pub gravy so stingy?
Post Body

I just took my wife and kids for a lovely Mother’s Day lunch. It was delicious, but extortionately expensive (£4.20 for a lemonade!)

Still the food was delicious. My roast plate was piled high with farm fresh beef, cabbage, carrots, creamed butternut squash, Yorkshire pudding and 4 of the tiniest roast potatoes I’ve ever seen. I’ve had bigger Cadbury’s Cream Eggs. Still who cares - it tasted wonderful, except there was a crucial problem. It had an egg cups worth of gravy.

So fellow pub roast lovers of Britain, can someone explain why on gravy portions are so incredibly stingy especially as they aren’t even close to the most expensive thing in the plate?

Can you also tell me what is the etiquette for asking for more gravy on the basis that this plate is drier than 2 day old toast!
