Has any research ever been done on self-reporting the North/South/Midlands divide?
Post Body

There's a few memes about this floating around this morning, and it occurred to me, has there ever been a survey that actually asked people where they think they live? Google didn't bear fruit, just showed me a bunch of socio-economic studies rather than anything that actually asked people what they think about themselves and where they live.

Obviously, we're still allowed to disagree with people's judgement about this, but it'd be interesting to see this as a baseline.

If there is a survey study that asked this question (not about people's grand theories, but just about what they think they themselves are), I'd be curious to be pointed to it.
