Im a 14 year old, and my mom does not let me wear tampons. I'm having a 5-day school trip, and for one day straight, we will be kayaking and swimming. Unfortunately, this overlaps with my period date. I asked my mom if I could wear tampons, because if I wore pads, I would have to spend 8 hours just sitting on the grass watching the other kids kayak and jump off waterfalls.

My mom didn't freak out in the classic asian parent way, but she still refuses to let me wear tampons, because of course, the hymen. She told me that the hymen, signifies a woman's virginity, and that I should 'save' the 'breaking of the hymen' for the man I love that I will be having sex with in the future. I explained to her that the breaking of the hymen can occur naturally, and that it doesn't mean I am longer a virgin (since you can only be a virgin after sex). However, she is keen on the fact that I can display my virginity to the man if the hymen does not break until sex. After that she basically explained that the display of virginity of the wife will make the man very happy. And again, that I should be saving it for the man I love.

Unfortunately, I will 100% be wearing tampons no matter what. Why the hell would I sit on the floor for 8 hours instead of swimming? But I don't really want to do anything behind my mom's back, and it would be hell for me if she found out about it. Is there any way I can persuade her into allowing me to wear a tampon? Or do I just have to wear it in secret?

edit) she said although I may not see the importance of my virginity now, I may see it as an important thing later in my 20s, and regret deciding to wear tampons at such an early age. Yeah she basically said I wasn't old enough to make decisions about whether to use tampons or not...
