Asians and plastic bags from costco

As an asian, there's something I never understood with older asian people (especially the elderly). They seem to take sh*t loads of plastic from Costco (the orange ones you mainly see in the meat department). They don't even put anything in the bags, they just stick these wads of plastic in their pocket or cart. What's up with that?
