Victim blaming is very common in Filipino families unfortunately. Growing up in a Filipino family, I've seen victim blaming happen all the time in my own family. It doesn't matter if you were molested, bullied by your own family, gossiped till your reputation is permanently damaged,etc. If it happened to you, it's always your fault that it happened. Even if it's your parents who treated you like crap, it's your fault that it happened and they'll use illogical reasons for it (it's your fault since your disabled, its your fault you were born stupid, etc). Then to top if off, they'll gossip about you to all their friends and family.

What it is up with this mentality amongst filipino parents?
