Hi,

Have a question for those with asian parents. I am filipino and have to put up with the usual problems the majority of filipinos have (crab mentality, short temper, gossip mongering, onion skinned aka easily bruised ego, etc). Now my mother is trying to force the family to move to Hawaii (we live in California) because she thinks all of our problems will be solved (my father being an alcoholic, my parents argue and fight about everything every single day). Her logic is that because everything is laid back in Hawaii, the family will be happier. I'm not interested in going to Hawaii nor am I buying my moms excuse for forcing the family because I already know that 1: my dad will still continue to be an alcoholic and treat the family like sh*t and 2: my parents will continue fiighting and arguing all day everyday. 3: I'm definitely not the island type (I vacationed in Hawaii. I just couldn't get used to the lifestyle there. It's a nice place though). Both my parents have been this way since I was 9 yrs old and to this day, my parent's are still the same (alcohol, arguing, fighting, finger pointing, etc). And even though I'm 35yrs old, she still continues trying to force me to live in Hawaii with them. She keeps insisting that life will be easier there. Anyone else out there have similar experiences and if so, how did you handle it?
