Hi all,

I'm a mod on the sub (currently the only active one, I guess - top mod hasn't been seen for 7 months and the other mod removed himself..?) and I wanted to get some input from you all.

I'll be upfront. I'm very active on reddit but it's really only confined to a single sub/community; I haven't even touched the rest of reddit for months, lurking a bit but never commenting. I'll check the moderation logs/modmail every once in a while, ban some trolls maybe once a month, but not on anything approaching a regular basis.

In short, I'm not a very active or involved moderator and I think that the community deserves someone willing to do that, if so desired. I used to be pretty invested here (and I am still an Asian kid/very much able to relate to the posts) so I do still want the best for this sub, I just don't really have the time or interest.

So, here's where you all come in. What are you looking for in terms of moderation? I've listed the two options I can think of below.

A. Continue with no changes, business as usual. Self regulation and pretty much no moderation. If something big happens (huge troll, etc) I'm still active enough on reddit that a few modmails will get me off my lazy ass.

B. Introduce some new moderators. Get some more dedicated mods who will clean out the spam filter, maybe host some weekly discussion threads, interact more often with the community and in general do all those things I've been neglecting. I'm only going to consider community-approved mods (probably based on what I read in the comments, or nominations or something like that). I've gotten requests from people randomly asking if they can mod the sub, but when I check their profiles they're even less active here than I am. If any mod abuse happens, PM/modmail it and I can kick them off and go from there.

That's my current thought process. From what I can tell, the sub looks pretty active, readership is good and the content doesn't look half bad. I'm not keen on messing with something that isn't broken, but I feel like opening up a thread for community input can't hurt. I could also look into changing the sub a bit, (using contest mode, self-post only, stuff like that) but only if there appears to be a consensus on it. I'd hate to come in out of nowhere and impose a bunch of changes that no one wants or needs. OTOH, things could always be better and I don't want an inactive mod team being the thing that holds everyone back.

Anyways, I'll probably sticky this for the next week or so just to make sure enough people can give their input, then read over the comments and decide what to do. If you want your opinion heard, please speak up. Don't let just a few voices that shout the loudest end up determining the way the community goes. I'm not a total dummy, but if 15 comments end up saying the same thing and no one says anything to the contrary then I'll probably assume that's the general viewpoint.

TLDR: I'm pretty inactive, but don't want that to negatively impact the sub. I don't mind introducing some new mods or changes, just let me know what you all want.
