My parents are so overly prideful to where it hurts them and me collaterally.
Nothing I love more than my dad yelling up a storm about how heās so tired from working and he wakes up early stays late etc. And he works weekends, too. But itās all his choice. He misses out on important celebrations and events to work and sometimes not even more a lot of money.
His birthday was last month. We were going to take him out to dinner and I was willing to pay for it all. His choice, anywhere he wants to eat. He ended up flaking to do a job. He came home late and started yelling at everyone for a tiny thing because heās so tired and āthis is what he gets for his birthday.ā Like it couldāve been basically a $300 grand meal that he gets for free but no he had to work.
I pay rent since I started working early this year. $400. I said āif youāre so tired if youāre so busy then I can pay $1000 a month instead so you can work less and rest more.ā He got so offended and started yelling about how I got this nice paying job and now I donāt know the value of money like he does, and that Iām not hardworking like he is.
Every week itās the same spiel. I work from home so my work doesnāt count. He doesnāt mind barging into my room to yell and Iāll get off work and heāll be mad because I couldnāt clean the house or something. Speaking of which I offered to hire a cleaner since he spends hours cleaning every week. He said that was embarrassing and was insulted that I even asked.
I tried everything I could at my ripe age of 23 to help this fucking idiot but it seems he wants to stay miserable and blame it on everyone else. I havenāt moved out yet because while I was about to a few months ago my company had layoffs, and I only started last year so if I get laid off I wonāt have enough savings for finishing an apartment lease while unemployed.
