You don't have to be able to do the summon in order to new heal/unexhaust. And if you have any alterations on it, then refreshing it will probably be preferable to getting rid of it and summoning a new one. If I can get it to have a silly amount of attack and health then my streadfast guardian will just become an impenetrable wall that I can just top up when ever anyone comes close to penetrating it.
