Hey, community! Probably an amateurish question, but I wanted to ask to see if anyone had similar experiences or suggestions.
I'm fairly new to painting, and I wanted to test my technique and equipment with acrylic and mixed media about 2 weeks ago. It would have been a simple drip painting with thicker beads of paint on a small canvas, except at the end, I used a non-porous piece of transparency film to "trap" the paint inside and create adherent patterns on the surface while the paint was still wet. However, the paint inside is not drying-it's still "squishy" to the touch.
When I try to heat it from underneath, condensation beads form on the transparency. I read that you can also heat the front using a hairdryer to speed up drying, but I'm nervous that'll change the paint's viscosity.
Alternatively, I can just put it in a secluded place and let it dry for longer.
Does anyone have any other suggestions without peeling away the surface of the painting? Thanks in advance!
