I adored Botticelli at the height of my studies at the university and still, now I see that the Primavera painting has a wildly interesting story: firstly, as I learned, the symbolism embodies, from right to left, three months of spring. March, April, May. Secondly - do you see that every woman in the picture is pregnant? The blue god of the winds, Zephyr, depicted on the right, made them pregnant. First, he forcibly impregnated the nymph Chloride, which she later made the goddess Flora, apparently to apologize. And Flora is pictured near Chloride. (In my opinion, this is a funny description of how most women agree to marriages not for love, but for material issues.). Thirdly, after the passing of the Medici dynasty, the painting lay for 100 years useless to anyone, in the storerooms of the gallery in Italy. For 100 years, the painting was not interesting - THIS painting.
