I'm unsure, and looking for advice, on how to just expand my general knowledge of art history -- to become more familiar with important movements and work. But most importantly to be exposed to works in a more guided manor so that I can myself get the most out of the art. I'm looking for mainly books, essays, maybe news sites or journals that can help.
I'm relatively familiar with a few popular artists (mainly painters but I do have an interest in sculpture) being Picasso, Monet, Gaugain, Pollack, Twombly, Basquait, etc. My background is in philosophy, I'm a university student, with an interest in the philosophy of power, language, and systems in general (think Wittgenstein, Foucault, Kierkegaard, Freud, Heidegger & Hegel).
thanks
