hi! i (17f) (also australian just for reference š i feel like it could be important considering the art community in australia) am in my second last year of high school and need to decide what i want to do asap. i feel like the easy option is just do a degree in media and communications but my dream is to do art history and work in a museum. iām scared my degree wonāt get me any jobs though. i donāt care for money as long as i can live just that bit comfortably. i just really want this but i donāt know if i can do it. in victoria, the state im from, art is pretty big but im scared it wont work.
iād love to relocate to another country if i ever did get an amazing job like that, but how would i even get the job? i was speaking to someone on tumblr who has an account heavily based on art history and they said that linking is a big important thing, like talking to other people and being like āoh yeah i know this personā while like at interviews or stuff like that, as well as volunteering, but what if when im at uni they donāt want me? iāve just got tons of worries and i donāt want to waste money on a degree that iāll enjoy learning but eventually wonāt get me anywhere.
please, iām so desperate for some advice. thank you guys :)

If youāre passionate and art history brings you joy then absolutely. Iām a huge advocate for studying what you love, not what you think will make you āsuccessfulā.
