My rewrite of Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 5
Post Body

And here it is, the final part of this rewrite. This has been a fun thing to do. There isn’t really much to say except thank you to all those who read it. So thank you. Now, with nothing left to say, let’s get into it!

Part 5

Alongside Part 1, Part 5 would be one of the least changed. I think with only changing a couple things, the quality goes up immensely.

First of all, the episode would remain mostly the same but with some obvious changes. Now, obviously all those who were at the Dawn of Time remember the previous timeline, which means that indeed, a lot more people would be aware of what’s going on. More than anything, this would mean mostly some changes in the dialogue to make truth of this as well as accordingly to the different events that happened on this version and things like that, but the overall plot would remain the same. This means that there is no need to have J’onn going everywhere giving everyone back their memories, though honestly I liked that little thing. This also means that we wouldn’t get the scene where Kara and Nia see Luthor getting the Nobel Prize, plus for another reason that you’ll see soon enough. The surprise appearance of Marv Wolfman would remain, but the dialogue would be different and instead of him wanting to get an autograph of Barry and Kara, it would be about how everyone thought they were dead, and obviously, they wouldn’t be surprised by their Earths merging together because Oliver would have explained it to them after they were revived. He would still get that autograph, though.

Now Sara wouldn’t call Ray, obviously, because he’s dead. Instead, she would call Diggle, which would lead to the scene of her going to the Bunker, where Diggle would also mention that somehow, Lyla appeared on this world again, after having been a prisoner of the Anti-Monitor for an entire month. The scene between J’onn, Caitlin, and Nash would remain, though now without J’onn, and instead of them shitting on Nash (which he honestly deserved), it would be about how he doesn’t has his powers now.

Back to Barry and Kara, now their reasoning for going to the Arrow Cave would instead be to check if everyone made it back. In here, except for a couple changes in the dialogue, everything would go the same, before we get the first big difference. Instead of Beebo and that magic dude, now the threat would be the teamup teased previously on Part 4, of Thawne and Luthor (who is yet unaware that in this world, he’s a good guy). The fight would go the same, but with the absence of Atom, and a couple more faces, this ones being Superman, Superboy, and Black Lightning (oh and also, maybe tone down the fourth wall breaks a little bit, this is a Crisis event, not a game). It wouldn’t be long before the fight goes in the heroes’ favor, and soon Thawne and Luthor are overwhelmed. Kara takes this chance to let Luthor know that apparently on this world, he’s a good guy (the public wouldn’t know it’s him because he’s wearing his armor), and at this discovery, any fight left in him leaves him. Instead, they run and fly away, with Luthor saying that he has to think what this means for him now, and with Thawne promising Barry that their game isn’t over, and they will be seeing each other soon.

The celebration after the battle would go the same, but now we would get an extra scene on the Bunker of Clark and Superboy talking. The latter, while happy that they have won, is angry and bitter at the realization that he has lost his entire world, and he seems to be the only one mourning all of the lost universes, with the death of the closest thing he’s had to a mentor, this one being Tom Welling’s Clark, not helping at all. Arrowverse Clark tries to calm him down and comfort him, but it does little to help Superboy, who gets even angrier at seeing that everyone treats him like a child, and angrily storms away. As for the talk between Sara and Barry, now it wouldn’t be between them, but rather, between Sara and Diggle, after Barry takes him there. This time, though, while close to it, he wouldn’t puke. The talk could remain mostly the same, but with a couple changes to signify its Diggle and not Barry. Now, we would also get a talk between Barry and Kara, because they are the last of the Trinity and I can’t believe they didn’t had not even one scene together talking about Oliver’s death! Their scene would be in the same bar that Barry and Oliver went to at the end of Elseworlds. In here, Kara would go look for Barry, who would be drinking (uselessly of course) and reminiscing old times. She would sit beside him, ordering a drink of her own (uselessly of course) and they would have a talk about Oliver and his sacrifice, and how moments before his death, he allowed both of them to live again. Kara comforts Barry, who feels guilty over his death. Here, Barry would also mention to Kara that while he was never sure of it, he is sure that Oliver made some kind of Devil’s Pact to allow both of them to live in the Elseworlds event. They would both agree on that if they’re both alive today, is because of Oliver’s sacrifice, and they will never stop fighting, to honor him and his memory, before they toast to him. As they leave the bar, Kara would suddenly pick something up with her superhearing, which would be one of the shadow demons. They would easily dispatch it, before they realize what this means. A similar scene would happen with Sara and Diggle, and they realize that they must be targeting those who were at the Dawn of Time. Same scene with Ryan, and from now on it goes very similarly.

It would also mentioned during planning at the Bunker, that all those who were at the Dawn of Time but didn’t appeared in the actual Part 5, will be protecting other parts of the world. Also, no shrinking the Anti-Monitor, the possibility could be mentioned by Ryan, but it would be brushed off by Sara, in fear that he could come back somehow, and instead, they will have to find a way to kill him. The next mayor difference would come right before the final battle starts, this one being that somehow with his powers, the Anti-Monitor is teleporting all of Earth to the Antimatter Universe. Soon, the Earth is teleported, and millions of shadow demons start attacking it. The same team of heroes from the actual Part 5 would go on to defend it, but with the addition of Superboy, while the scientists look for a way of bringing Earth back to their universe, with the protection of Rory, Frost, and Black Lightning. The heroes would be confused as to how is the Anti-Monitor alive, and he would explain that his previous self did died, but this version of him hasn’t because in this timeline the Crisis hasn’t happened yet. The battle would go the same, but with the corresponding filters for the sky and such, and with one extra super on the team. Shortly after the Anti-Monitor goes big, the heroes would remember Rory’s suggestion of throwing him into the Sun, but except of throwing him into their Sun, they’d be throwing him into the Antimatter Universe’s sun. Everyone agrees with the idea, especially Rory, but the scientists must find a way of bringing Earth back to their universe before they do this, or it will be burned by the subsequent flare. The fight continues until the scientist come up with some kind of modified interdimensional extrapolator that should take them back to their universe, but being on a hurry, it is of a single use and will stop working after it. At their confirmation, all of the flying teams starts lifting the Anti-Monitor and pushing him towards the Antimatter Universe’s sun, and once they’re close enough to it, they throw him towards it, finally killing him. On Earth, the fight comes to an end as the shadow demons disappear with his death, and back in space, immediately the supers start flying back to Earth, the flare right behind them, as the Earth starts being teleported away. They manage to reach the stratosphere just in time, however, Superboy isn’t fast enough. Superman tries to reach for him, but it’s too late, the Earth is teleported back to its place and Superboy disappears bare meters away from him. They believe him dead, thinking that not even a super could resist that. Clark is especially sad about this, but he finds some comfort in knowing that at the very least, he is with his family and all the people he lost now. At last, the battle has been won.

Everything else would go the same, but now the President’s speech would be modified to also refer to all the others who died, at least those who were from the previous Earths 1 and 38.

As for the new multiverse, it would go the same, but with a couple additions. The new Earth-167 would be Tom Welling’s Superman Earth, but now it would be the same version of the crossover, meaning that he gave up his powers and is living on the farm with his family, and another Earth would be the DCEU (though I’m not sure which number it could be), where we would see a shot of the Justice League movie, the one with all of them standing over the ledge of a building after the battle against Steppenwolf, as the ship comes to pick them up.

Now, as for the final scene, I think it was okay, but I’d change a few things (these are nitpicks more than anything, nothing big). When Jefferson says to Barry that Oliver seemed like a nice guy, Barry says ‘the best’, since he just nodding felt a little empty. Next, the positions of the chairs. I think the only who would remain in the same place would be Oliver’s. Now, on his left and right would sit Kara and Barry respectively. On Kara’s left would sit Clark, opposite of Jefferson, and on J’onn left would sit Clark, opposite of Barry. On Barry’s right would sit Jefferson, opposite of Clark, and on Jefferson’s right would sit Kate, opposite of Kara. Finally, opposite of Oliver’s chair, would sit Sara.

Finally, there would be no Gleek tease, because that was interesting the first time, but it kind of ruins the moment on subsequent watches, especially seeing as it was never brought up again, at least for now. Instead, the crossover would end with the shot of the table and the heroes seen from Oliver’s memorial, before seeing the original Crisis logo from the Elseworlds crossover, but now with a green glow around it.

End of Crisis on Infinite Earths.
