So, this will my version of how I think Crisis on Infinite Earths should have gone (yes, months after the actual crossover came out). Just to be clear, I did liked the crossover, I don’t think it’s my favorite, but it’s close, and it definitely had a lot of awesome moments. That doesn’t means it didn’t had flaws or things I personally didn’t liked, but I won’t talk about those now. And yes, I know there are a ton of Crisis rewrites out there, but I still want to do this one. What’s one more anyways, right? Just so you know, there will be a few less cameos here. Previous cameos will now have important roles, while others will flat out not appear. That being said, let’s get into it!
The beginning would remain the same, with The Monitor giving the same speech and all those cameos could remain. In fact, all first ten minutes or so would remain the same. The changes would start around the time Clark and Lois send Jonathan to Earth. However, unlike in the actual crossover, he doesn’t ends up in another Earth, and actually arrives to Earth-38, where he is picked up by Kara, mirroring the scene of Kara’s own arrival on Earth. This would also mean no Earth-16 side plot. Don’t get me wrong, I actually liked it, and the talk between Sara and Earth-16 Oliver always tears me up a bit, especially in subsequent watches, after knowing what will happen, but there simply wouldn’t be enough time to fit it in this rewrite, and besides, this side plot does raises a few continuity issues with Star City 2046 (you probably don’t want to hear me rant about it, so let’s just skip that).
The plot would remain similar for a bit longer, with the first batch of heroes arriving to Earth-38 and the debriefing would be similar, but not the same. Lyla would reveal that the Antimatter wave has grown strong enough to be able to consume several universes at the same time. Right now, it’s targeting Earth-3, Earth-19, and Earth-38, with Earth-1 being the last due to being the first Earth that existed, and therefore the closest thing to a Nexus in the Multiverse. The rest would go the same with Lyla going to pick up the rest of the heroes, including Cisco, and the scene of Part 3 where Cisco gets his powers back would be here, but with Lyla instead of The Monitor and in the D.E.O. The reason for him getting his powers back would be to help with the evacuation. Ryan Choi would be brought in as well, in order to help find a way to evacuate everyone, and once he understood what was going on he would fanboy a bit about Ray before helping Alex and Lena. As well as Lex Luthor, which leads to some tension between him, Clark and Kara, but Lyla explains that he is needed and for the moment, they agree to work with him. The Quantum Tower appears too, but then Lyla would go look for a second batch of heroes to help defend all of the Earths, while the rest of them get ready for the battle and find ways to evacuate everyone to Earth-1, meaning same scenes between Alex and Lena, but with the help of Lex and Ryan. We would get the same talks that happened in the crossover here, except the one between Barry and Oliver would be longer because once Oliver talks with The Monitor he returns besides Barry and tells him that he’s fated to die as well. Barry refuses to accept it at first, but Oliver helps him come to terms with it and they hug, before Lyla arrives with the second batch of heroes, this ones being: Earth-90 Flash, Jesse Quick (both of which would be revealed that they were left safe in another Earth by The Monitor, here Barry and Cisco would find out about Earth-2 being destroyed), the Legion of Superheroes (yes, Winn included because why not), Black Lightning, Smallville Superman (not necessarily with a suit), Superboy (not the one from Titans, an original one. Picture him as… I don’t know, someone, I’m open to suggestions. Or just imagine him like whoever you like), Kevin Conroy Batman, and Brandon Routh Superman. Most of them are confused as to how they are here, but it would be quickly explained by Lyla. However, things get heated between Kevin Conroy Batman and Brandon Routh Superman. You see, unlike in the crossover, both of them are from the Kingdom Come universe. To be more specific, they would be from right before the final battle in the comic, which means that right now they are more than willing to punch each other into oblivion. This could be mentioned in the yelling match between them, as well as by Lyla explaining it to the others. Before things get worse between them, Lyla steps in and explains the situation. Once they understand exactly what’s at stake, they agree to work with each other for the moment. Kate would also be shook by seeing an alternate version of Bruce, but we wouldn’t get a scene between them just yet. We could also get a scene with Winn and the rest of the Legion talking to Team Supergirl or something like that, even one between Cisco and Winn talking about the evacuation, and finally, a scene between the Trinity where Barry and Oliver (who is still pissed about Barry having to die) tell Kara that they are both fated to die. This would come as a shock to Kara, who angrily refuses to believe it and falls into tears, despite both of them telling her that they’ve made their peace with it. Before they can discuss it any further, Lyla tells them it’s time to go and defend the Quantum Towers, so they share a group hug and each of them go to protect different Earths.
Earth-3 would be defended by Barry, Jesse, Jay, Earth-90 Barry (who would be surprised at seeing an entirely different person wearing his face), Black Lighting, Smallville Superman and Superboy. Earth-19 would be defended by Oliver, Sara, Mia, Cisco, Breacher, Accelerated Man, Kevin Conroy Batman (let’s call him KC Batman from now on, be it because of Kingdom Come or Kevin Conroy, as for his suit, just imagine something similar to the one he wore in the actual crossover, but with more pieces including a mask, and more Batman like, in order to make it more similar to the one he wears in the comic) and Kingdom Come Superman (let’s call him KC Superman, like with Batman). And Earth-38 would be defended by Kara, the Legion, J’onn Superman, Batwoman, and Ray. The ships that in the crossover helped evacuate Earth-38 would now help evacuate Earth-3 and Earth-19 as well, with the assistance of breachers from Earth-19. The fight scenes in Earth-38 would remain mostly the same, but with different characters and maybe a bit shorter to accommodate for the other two Earths. And during the evacuation, instead of Kelly defending the civilians, it would actually be James in his Guardian suit who got called to help as well. During the battles, however, the heroes of Earth-3 and Earth-19 are overwhelmed, and eventually their Quantum Towers are destroyed. In the subsequent chaos, Jay’s wife gets caught in their own version of S.T.A.R Labs, which is falling apart. With everyone else busy fighting shadow demons and trying to get as many people as they can to the ships before the wave reaches them and him being the closest to her, Earth-90 Flash speeds to her and leaves her nearby one of the last ships, as everyone else enters them and gets to safety, including the heroes. However, he is overwhelmed by shadow demons and tries to get as many as he can away from the survivors, including Joan (we could get his flashback with Tina here). He ends up badly injured by them, with not even enough strength to get on his feet. Due to this, he ends up being consumed by the Antimatter wave as the last ship escapes. Similarly, on Earth-19 Accelerated Man would straight up be killed by the shadow demons. At the same time, Breacher gets ready to make a last stand similar to the one from Oliver on Part 1. Cisco tries to stop him, but Breacher tells him that he has nothing left to live for, but Cisco still does. To this, Cisco reluctantly agrees and escapes to Earth-1 through a breach, while Breacher makes his own last stand and eventually falls. Earth-38 on the other hand, seems to be doing better, seeing as their Quantum Tower still hasn’t been destroyed. Eventually, no more shadow demons appear, and the heroes take it as a win, before Lyla appears and tells them that this doesn’t has any sense, because the shadow demons are created by the Anti-Monitor and according to his power, he can create more or less before he reaches his limit. However, by this point, the Anti-Monitor should still be able to create many more shadow demons. Confused by this, Lyla takes Kara, J’onn, Kate and Ray to Earth-1 hoping to get some answers, while the rest stay on Earth-38.
Everyone meets up in S.T.A.R Labs, where they are told about the fall of Earth-3 and Earth-19. In here Wally would also appear, having been contacted by Team Flash to help. Suddenly Pariah appears there, and we get some similar dialogue to the one from the end of Part 1. Then, through the cameras, the heroes see a cloud of red gas (like the one the Monitor made when vanishing people, but red) right in the city. However, nothing seems to indicate an antimatter wave. Finally, Lyla realizes that the Anti-Monitor’s plan was to get the remaining shadow demons to Earth-1 in order to kill the heroes and be met with no more resistance. The heroes march to the portal right as the shadow demons come out of it. However, much to the heroes’ surprises, they are being led by the Psycho Pirate and The Reverse Flash. They explain that they were contacted by the Anti-Monitor due to their skills, and they became his lieutenants. Soon, a fight breaks out, with most of the heroes fighting the shadow demons while Barry chases Thawne all over the city. Thawne mocks Barry, telling him about how he said he would meet him in their next crisis, and tells him that when only the Antimatter Universe remains, the Anti-Monitor promised to grant them tremendous power, as well as the chance to torture Barry for all eternity. Meanwhile, the heroes are having a harder time fighting the shadow demons, because unlike before, they seem to be thinking smarter, staying in groups and attacking in formations, almost like if someone was controlling them. Suddenly, J’onn notices the Psycho Pirate in a roof in the distance, and he figures out that he must be the one controlling them somehow. He engages on a mental battle with him, and after great effort, manages to cut most of his control over the shadow demons, after which the heroes have a much easier time defeating those that are left. With almost all of his control over the shadow demons gone, and most of them having been defeated, Psycho Pirate calls for retreat, and soon another portal opens through which he and the remaining shadow demons escape. Seeing this, Thawne, who was in an evenly matched fight with Barry, escapes as well, much to his dismay, the portal closing behind him. As this happens, Pariah also disappears from S.T.A.R Labs, meaning they’re safe. For now, the heroes have won.
With this small moment to get some breathing room, most of the heroes would go to S.T.A.R Labs to discuss their next steps, and we could get a couple more talking scenes if there’s still time, like one between Kara and Kate, another between Barry and Jefferson, one between Ryan and Ray, and one between KC Bruce and KC Clark, who agree that they work better as a team and maybe once this is all over and they get back to their Earths (that is, if it still exists), they could try to find a way to work peace between both of their sides. We are also told that most of the Legends are helping everyone get settled in Earth-1, instead of just ‘lol no, we aren’t helping you, screw the multiverse’, except for Sara and Ray (obviously), and Nora, Constantine and Rory, who meet up with them as well. Suddenly, the Monitor appears with Lyla, and he tells them this is their chance to strike the Anti-Monitor. So, while one team will remain defending and protecting the remaining Earths, the other one will be transported into the antimatter universe by the Monitor. For this mission, he selects Oliver, Barry, Kara, Sara, Earth-38 Superman, KC Superman, Ray, Nora, Cisco, Frost, Alex, J’onn, James, Lex Luthor (with his armor) and Jay. Everyone else’s mission is to defend and evacuate the remaining Earths. The Monitor takes them to the wall that Nash was trying to open, which now serves as a portal to the antimatter universe. There, he warns the group that once they enter the Antimatter Universe, they will be in constant danger, and that it is a very dangerous place. He also tells them that once they’re inside, he will only be able to communicate with them for short periods of time, because while in it, his powers are weakened and if he spends too much in the Antimatter Universe, he could die. The group nods and Oliver tells him they’re ready, to which he teleports them to the Antimatter Universe (which would look like the Dawn of Time, but without rain and a different filter, maybe a red one, with red skies all over it). Then, we would see the Crisis on Infinite Earths logo, and as a post logo scene, we would see that elsewhere, in the Antimatter Universe, the Anti-Monitor (who in here has a suit more similar to the comics, helmet and everything, though we will still see the other suit) senses their arrival from his lair.
