Greetings everyone,
I was just bored and starting looking at the variety of armor across the internet and couldn't help but notice the stark difference between LARP and 'historical inspired' armor not only from the price tags but also the detail itself (you pay for quality after all).
Now I know LARP brands such as a Epic Armory cater towards LARPER's who don't don't care about historical accuracy and historical reenactors wouldn't be caught dead wearing LARP armor but this is more a exercise of fun because I'm also a huge history nerd. And not going to lie part of me is tempted to purchase some of the LARP pieces since I am well aware how much fitted well made armor actually costs.
We would be here all day if I listed every piece of armor LARP on the market so Ill give two examples of my favorite historical styles of armor being the Gothic and Milanese styles (cliche I know).
First we have Epic Armory's Gothic inspired armor (https://epicarmoury.com/products/1295-gothic-armour) and even though I'm still a amateur when it comes to armor I still notice the difference between that and what Arm Street (https://armstreet.com/store/armor/medieval-knight-gothic-plate-armour-kit) and Steel Mastery offers (https://steel-mastery.com/fr/german-gothic-full-plate-armor).
Then we have Epic Armory's Milanese armor (https://epicarmoury.com/products/1301-milanese-complete-armour) and compare that to Steel Mastery's equivalent (https://steel-mastery.com/fr/milan-style-full-plate-armour-1450-1485-years).
So just for fun and for the sake of just discussing and comparing LARP armor to more historically inspired armor, what are your thoughts from a aesthetical, functional and historical point of view ?
Have fun and take care.
