What should I look for in a breastplate?

I am looking for a breastplate that I can wear to renaissance fairs, and won't be doing combat in it, at least not with metal swords. In about 6 months I will be going on hormones, so I am worried that if I buy armor now and grow breasts the breastplate would be uncomfortable to wear. Do I need to find a female cuirass?
