So much of the overall ouvre of Poly here in Arkansas is basically "swingers who have emptied the options in the local swinger community and are now hunting unicorns in Poly spaces" and Kitchen Table fanatics who earnestly believe that, having found one person who likes them enough to live with them for the rest of their life, they can find another couple with their own existing dynamics and issues who will meld effortlessly with them. Hopes and dreams indeed.

I'm much more looking for friends who are going to meet needs in my life that my present relationship doesn't (because no relationship can be everything, and expecting it to is a kind of slavery), in a way where I fill other existing needs in their own lives. But very much in a "friends who are nice to have around and talk to and sometimes hang out with", rather than "new passionate romance overflowing with NRE that's going to pump life back into my kayaking hobby" because that's just unsustainable.

Being the sort of person who isn't visually wired, and is looking for the right essay to be at home in, I'm probably in the wrong place looking for connection outside of, say, tumblr, but we all do what we can.
