I drafted a reasonably fast mage deck with double mana wyrm, double mirror image, double flamecannon, double spellslinger, mirror entity to go with a mad scientist and a pyroblast as a finisher.
I blame spellslinger for all my losses:
Gave my opponent a tree of life they used before I found pyroblast, lost the game
Gave my opponent a demonwrath they used to clear my board, lost the game
Gave my opponent a hellfire they used to clear my board, won the game regardless =) =)
Gave me blade flurry, ended up losing the game
I can't recall the times the spellslingers gave me something beneficial, only the terrible outcomes. It is a fun card and I'll definitely draft it again, but it has a huge potential to make you feel bad, and you tend to remember those times more.
Since powerful spells are rare in arena, a random spell is likely more valuable to your opponent than a random card from their deck. Also arena games tend to get to topdeck mode fairly often, where giving your opponent fuel feels bad.
I'd be interested to know how high you value spellslinger in arena? Above spider tank? Have you had good experiences with it?
