Hold breath mechanic?

Is there any point to not holding breath whenever you aim down sights? The "aim stamina" seems to go down at the same rate wether you are holding breath or not. So then its pointless to aim without holding breath or am i missing something? Also find it annoying you cant change it from toggle to hold.
If there is no downside its just a matter of time before people start macroing rmb to also press alt once to auto-hold.
