I currently work as an estimator (2 years experience) for a small general contractor in a major Texas city. I am looking to expand my career opportunities by adding CAD drafting and editing to my resume. Given that I do have experience on the pre construction side with estimating small commercial renovation projects, would a architecture or engineering firm find my skillset valuable if I become "Autodesk certified" (take the proctored exam) in Revit / AutoCAD / Civil 3D? I did 2 years of design studio in architecture school already, but I switched career paths to the construction side. I do have a general idea of design and can engage in those conversations with coworkers when necessary. I am open to careers in either architecture, engineering, or construction.
