SPOILER WARNING: If you haven't finished watching season 8 and 9 of archer, and would like to not know some of the events happening in those seasons, then I advice to come back after doing so
Okay so, first of all thanks for clicking in my post. Second, I thought about this while in the shower recently so it may sound a bit weird at first because I just thought of it but it's a fun thought. (Also, this isn't a theory, more like a hypothesis, they aren't the same, but still it sounded cool).
So, the reason I thought about this was I'm a med student and out of curiosity I was reading stuff about coma's. Then, as I was finalising season 9, I realised something.
So, you know how sometimes comatose patients can be a little aware of their surroundings. This doesn't mean they respond, but rather they are only aware. So I was thinking, what if some of the events taking place on the coma seasons are caused from external stimuli?
The first example would be Woodhouse's death. Archer (Sterling) cannot have the idea that he has died, and yet at the beginning of dreamland, just after Lana mentioned it, Sterling sees Woodhouse dead on the ground.
Another example could be Lana singing, she may be singing a song in Archer's room while alike both of them, and the song is (I would consider it to be) a love song, we have to remember their relationship got a bit more close after AJ's birth.
I also like to think, when in Dreamland Krieger talks about his Nazi past, it could be actually Krieger telling comatose Archer a story about when he used to work for Hitler (if he ever did, I honestly don't know but the possibility is cool).
Another example (we're entering into season 9 territory here) could be the Chinchiladas. Maybe Pam brought some actual chinchiladas to the room, idk.
And the final example I have, and this one is the most interesting to me, is the ending of season nine. If you finished watching it, you may recall Archer falling into a pit of lava. Now, lava is hot (duh), and him falling in the lava could be a sign of Archer falling into a fever. Now, a fever could be signs of an infection, we have to remember he's in a hospital, and without proper care or some cross-contamination from one of the characters Archer could get one. However, by the end of his coma we could assume he is safe from the infection. The last scenes are from space, and space is cold, doctors could be aware of Archer's rising temperature and could have artificially cooled his body down with some ice, or whatever.
I don't know, just a weird thought that doesn't really change much, but it's a fun thought to think about when rewatching the last seasons. Maybe while watching it again I (or you) could think about more examples, I don't know, but it's entertaining to think of it that way while rewatching it.
Edit: a few typos, sorry English is not my first language and I sometimes forget how to sound normal 🤣.
