Other interesting notes:
Like many Anatolian cities from the Bronze and Iron Ages, the ruins at Sardis are largely much later Roman constructions.
Sardis, in particular, is weird because these photos aren't actually of the original Bronze Age location, which was largely destroyed in the early Persian period. Rebuilding largely shifted the city away from its original acropolis altogether.

This isn't at all unusual in antiquity. For a very long time, the "my god(s) are the one true way" approach was very uncommon. When you already have hundreds of local variations and regional deities, it's very easy to encounter new gods in new places and incorporate that into your belief structure.
