As for the relationship between mother and son, it could be a few things that lead the story into the smut. A possible option is to have warrior culture that they belong to take special interest in bonds between fellow wariors, believing that intimacy and sex allow for greater combat effectiveness. So, the mother would want to help her son become a better fighter, and the easiest way to do this is to get intimate.

We could tie it into breeding as well with superior officers or an interested party wishing to have pure-seed warriors which makes experimentation between mother and son a must.
