A few months ago, I went to a chain pet store to buy some baby otocinclus catfish. I needed algae control for my 10gal betta tank and figured they could be docile companions for her. Fast forward and once they got bigger, it's very obvious these guys aren't otos. They're Siamese Algae Eaters.
Otos can be kept in small groups in a 10gal tank They live about 5 years and get to be about 2in long
SAEs need atleast 30gals, get 6in long and live 10years!!!
When I realized they weren't otos, I did a bunch of research on their care and have plans to upgrade to a 40gal just so they're happy. But if Im being completely honest, I don't want to take care of these things for the next 10 years as I didnt even want them in the first place! Does anyone know of any places that might take them in or have any suggestions? Thank you!!
