Question about turtle tank

Post Body

Below are some questions I have about my turtle tank and have not gotten a clear answer so I need some advice from fellow turtle owners. Below are my questions:

  1. Is it okay for the heat lamp to be close to where the filter and water heater rest?
  2. If I only have a traditional tank lid would it be better to... -not have a lid on the half of the tank where the light would be positioned -get something to rest on top of the tank that is not the acrylic lid -keep the lid half folded open so part of it is covered but could be warmed by the heat lamp.

Please keep in mind that I do have a variety of fish living among the turtle as he is fish friendly (other than to feeding fish) and am also in the works on aquascaping and allowing my plants to grow and thrive.

With all this in mind. I just want to make sure that by rearranging the tank does not in turn cause issues in the long run by altering the levels of the tank, having it too warm or not warm enough in regions, or causing issues for my other fish and plants.

Please help! I appreciate all the advice anyone has! If you need more info just ask
