I just noticed a bunch of baby Rams horn snails all over my tank. I know snails can hitchhike very easily, but I don't see any way they could have hitchhiked. The last time anything new was added was months ago.
I have one single Rams horn snail in one of my other tanks that hitchhiked but it is literally the only one in there and has been for months. It was just a tiny baby when I first noticed it so there is no way it was fertilized when I got it and from what I gather, they cannot reproduce asexually. I have never had babies in that tank.
This leaves two scenarios. One, I have two (or more) Rams horn snails in my tank that I have for some reason never seen. Or two, the eggs can be dormant for extended periods of time and they are just now hatching.
Both of these seem very unlikely so I'm pretty confused.
I like rams horn snails so I don't mind. I'm just baffled. They had to have just hatched as they weren't anywhere to be seen yesterday.
