hey there, so tomorrow will be the last 24 hours of my second round of dosing API general cure (so i’ll be changing the water). the original fish suffering from parasites seems to have made a complete recovery from my first treatment 2 weeks ago, but a couple days ago i noticed another fish with the same symptoms as him (shy, not eating, staying close to the top of the water) so i started another round of treatment. i... hope this fish is doing better? but nowhere near the dramatic turnaround i saw in the first fish (she’s still skittish and spends a lot of time hiding) and i haven’t seen her in like six hours so i dunno what she’s up to. she’s also much younger and smaller which might have something to do with it. anyway, i’m ALSO today seeing stringy poop on another of my fish with only 24 hours left of this round of treatment. stringy poop fish is happily eating and swimming around, including some medicated food, so i’m not super worried about her but still frustrated since i thought i would have knocked out all the parasites by now.
i have been adding aquarium salt but couldn’t give you a solid percentage or ratio.
i’ve heard that you don’t have to worry about overdosing with general cure? which makes me think that i could potentially do another round but i don’t necessarily want to subject my fish to that, especially since there are some pretty small fry in the tank (though they seem to have taken both rounds in stride!) but ALSO i don’t want to create an antibiotic resistant problem. aghhh im just confused and frustrated lol please advise me on what i should do. thank you!
