Post Body

Hi all, recently bought myself an Aqua one brand 104F filter (which I believe is the biggest size internal filter this brand offers commercially). I have a 190L tank which is stocked almost to its limit with a variety of tropical fish, mostly small ones like mollies, small bristlenoses and a few other similar species. I have found that this particular filter is blocking up with waste very quickly. Almost every 8 - 9 days, the outflow will dramatically drop in pressure and I have to take it all apart to clean. Now this is not necessarily an issue, but I sought some advice from a Facebook group with people local to me and was suggested that anything over 50L should have a canister filter rather than internal filters. I have no experience with these, so can anyone confirm if this is true? My concerns would be that the smaller fish get sucked into the pipes and end up in the filter which I obviously don't want. Does anyone have experience with these in a basic tropical tank? I am planning on upgrading to a much larger tank soon.
