Adding substrate to established tank.

Post Body

Hello!

So I researched the different substrates from the FAQs in this group and I decided on something that I think is similar to black blasting sand so as not to mess with the parameters too much. It seems like quite a few substrates aren't suitable to add to an established tank.

I'd like to add more substrate as there's just too little for the plants I think and generally to assist with aquascaping.

Aside from through rinsing of the sand, is it possible to removes the plants and add the new substrate with the fish still in the tank or is it highly recommended to remove the fish as well when adding the new substrate?

Anything that can be done on top of rinsing to reduce clouding the water during the process? Adding the sand wet from a tupperware container or something?

Any tips much appreciated.
