Post Body

last night i was doing a water change and i noticed i didn’t see one of my fish. upon searching i found it in the back, breathing heavily and unable to swim correctly with lesions that are definitely hemorrhagic septicemia. there’s not a lot but definitely quite a few red spots on its belly and face. im pretty sure i saw it swimming fine yesterday or the day before so i don’t know how long this has been going on or why it escalated. i currently have it resting in a mesh net inside the tank because i don’t have a hospital tank setup. if i have to, i can use a jar, but i don’t have another heater or filter. i dosed melafix last night and am soaking some pellets in it to feed to it today. honestly i don’t have super high hopes because this little guy seems in rough shape but if anyone has advice let me know. water parameters looked fine but honestly i’m starting to question the accuracy of my test strips because they always give me the same (positive) results even if i haven’t done a water change in a while. they are pretty established and have live plants but i just changed the filter in my 20 gal which is where this lil guy is.
