Aggressive cherry shrimp?
Post Body

Hi all, I’m newish to raising shrimp and I have a 20 high tank dedicated to the little guys. I have two Amanos and 8 cherry shrimp. Today I was at the pet store and they had some nice looking cherry shrimp so I purchased 4 more to add to my tank (I am hoping to eventually breed them). Shortly after acclimating them and introducing them to my tank, one of the Amanos came out of hiding and a cherry shrimp attacked it? It just jumped on top of the Amano and it looked to me like it was trying to eat it. I don’t know if if was a new shrimp or current resident, but I have never seen any of these guys act aggressive towards each other before and I though cherries were pretty peaceful. Maybe because Amanos are clearer it thought he was a molted snack? My Amano got him off and I can’t tell if it’s injured or not. I’m pretty attached to the Amanos and don’t want anything to happen to them, they were just tiny little guys when I first got them and now they are bigger than any of the cherry shrimp.
