Will my mystery snail eat himself to death?

I just put in a blanched slice of cucumber in there about 2-3 hours ago and he’s still going ham on that thing, there’s a decently sized hole now (it was a bit thin to begin with) in it.
He’s the only snail, my tetras have picked at it a tiny bit but that’s it.. it doesn’t seem like he’s anywhere near done eating, should I just remove it, or will he be fine?
