EDIT/UPDATE: All done now! I'll probably post pictures at some point (although probably over on /r/plantedtank, perhaps both!).

Okay so Im ready to make the move from plastic to real plants, which also requires changing the gravel (the stuff I have planned to go in is about 3mm rounded yellow/brown coloured gravel EDIT: this stuff. Is that rounded enough for a kuhli loach?). My current thought is to do the following; would this be a good way to do it?

  1. Put fish in temporary tank with tank water
  2. Empty and keep any remaining water
  3. Take out all decorations and current gravel, but hold onto the current gravel.
  4. Rinse new gravel, put into tank
  5. Arrange decorations (driftwood and/or rocks)
  6. Refill tank with water and fish
  7. Put a handful of old gravel in netting/tights etc to help bacteria transfer over (I read online that thats good to do?)
  8. Plant plants when they arrive (Should be tomorrow)

I also need a couple more tetra as I only have a pair (the previous ones died) and I know they like being in groups. Does it need to be the same species or will "any" tetra do? I'll obviously wait a little bit before getting them to let the current fish settle down with the new decor.

Sorry for all the questions!
