EDIT/UPDATE: All done now! I'll probably post pictures at some point (although probably over on /r/plantedtank, perhaps both!).
Okay so Im ready to make the move from plastic to real plants, which also requires changing the gravel (the stuff I have planned to go in is about 3mm rounded yellow/brown coloured gravel EDIT: this stuff. Is that rounded enough for a kuhli loach?). My current thought is to do the following; would this be a good way to do it?
- Put fish in temporary tank with tank water
- Empty and keep any remaining water
- Take out all decorations and current gravel, but hold onto the current gravel.
- Rinse new gravel, put into tank
- Arrange decorations (driftwood and/or rocks)
- Refill tank with water and fish
- Put a handful of old gravel in netting/tights etc to help bacteria transfer over (I read online that thats good to do?)
- Plant plants when they arrive (Should be tomorrow)
I also need a couple more tetra as I only have a pair (the previous ones died) and I know they like being in groups. Does it need to be the same species or will "any" tetra do? I'll obviously wait a little bit before getting them to let the current fish settle down with the new decor.
Sorry for all the questions!
