Post Body

Two different 10 gallons.

First picture is a well established tank reading.

Second is my new one two weeks into the cycle(with used filter media).

My second tank is not ready for fish, you can see it’s slightly darker, which means nitrites are not being consumed fast enough.

Just trying to make a point to be sure you have 0 nitrites for anyone wondering if their tank is cycled. The second picture appears to be 0, but compare the two! There is definitely a reading there.

Nitrites at any level can be toxic to fish. And if your tank isn’t processing them immediately without a fish, they’ll be worse with a fish!

Hope this helps anyone new, be patient, and make sure your water is good to go!

All love
