So I've been all over the place with deciding on an aquarium setup. A Betta/shrimp in a 5 gallon, Shellies in a 20 long, 20 standard community with a betta, cories, and hatchets, then changing the betta to a couple of honey gouramis.. but now I think I've come up with my dream tank, and need some input/advice.
My thoughts are: a mating pair of kribs, either a small school of panda cories, or 1 or 3 hillstream loaches, (maybe both?) a small group of marbled hatchets. I've been mainly looking at 20 gallons, either standard or long, but if needed, I can upgrade to a larger tank. Easy plants, sand substrate, typical scaping fare
With how protective the kribs will be (according to several videos I've seen), will I have to remove the fry to keep them from overpopulating, or add a predatory fish to cull the group, or will nature take it's course over time?
Any reason why my community choice won't work out? Would you guys make any changes to the selection?
I'd really like to keep the tank at 20 gallons, due to limited space, but like I said, if absolutely necessary I can probably go to 29 gallons (29 and 20 long has the same footprint yes?)
