Okay so first off, I know this was a bad idea. At the time it made sense. Don't ask me why I thought this was necessary, because the reason is equally dumb.
That being said, in an effort to clean my canister filter I ran hot water thru it with a good chug of bleach added to it... Like, maybe 2 cups of bleach to 5 gallons of water?
Question is, did I permanently ruin my filter media, or can it still be used? This was new media, so I don't care about killing off bacteria. I was trying to kill off something else....
The filter was not attached to the aquarium at the time, nor is it attached now - I'm dumb not an idiot. Also, I have a 2nd filter (HoB) on the tank, so this isn't critical, per say.
What I've done so far is run tap water thru it, and taken everything out of it to dry in the air... my hope is that the bleach will evaporate.
