Bike was in the shop (for 10 months) starting in April 2022 to repair some damage incurred in a minor traffic collision—mostly just plastics and the brake fluid reservoir. Adding this for context, bc it’s the main thing that’s different from last warm(ish) weather riding.
Anyway, it was in the mid-70’s today, so I was tooling around town running errands. Got stuck in some miserable bumper to bumper traffic for about 20 minutes. Glanced down at my dash display and noticed that the engine temp was reporting as 230° which shocked me bc I’d never previously seen it above 214° when the cooling fan would kick in. Temp climbed to 239° before the warning light came on, which prompted me to pull off the side and shut it down. Once it cooler a bit and traffic subsided, started back up and had no further issues as long as I was moving. Temp was a little higher than usual (like 220° tops), but it didn’t seem too worrying.
It’s clearly going to get warmer here, so I’m obviously concerned about this being a new feature of my city riding experience. Anyone have any ideas what might be the issue, or is this completely normal?
