So, many months ago I had UChicago on my list of schools to apply to. But after selecting my other schools and hearing over and over from my mom about how she didn't like UChicago for me and that the stress culture is real, and feeling like they were trying to force quirkiness out of me with those essay prompts, I knocked it off the list. Until...
at 11:14 pm tonight when I decided I was going to apply after all, for the hell of it, since it's free anyway.
So in about 40 minutes I speed-wrote a 590 word essay that I'm actually pretty proud of and made that my supplement. I'll probably look at it later and think, "Was I drunk when I wrote this?"
At 11:53pm I realized they had a "Why UChicago" prompt so I spewed out 100 words of I don't know what the hell it was (it helped that I visited and am pretty familiar in general) and clicked those little check boxes as hard as I could to get my app in by 12am. I was like, dang I hope my essays are enough to make up for that crappy "Why UChicago" one, but I was so happy to have it submitted, albeit at 12am, which I thought was late but no big deal.
Then, and I'm sure those of you applying to UChicago will already know this part, then..
I realized their deadline is January 2nd.
Edit: got waitlisted bois
