Hey everyone,
I'm a junior in high school and I'm not sure what to do with my last summer before applying to high school.
My first option is to take pre-calc during the summer through a program my school has so I can take AP Calc BC my senor year. In addition to that I could ether get an internship with the University of Maryland or NASA in something pertaining to physics. I like this option because I would be able to do actual physics research and I'll officially be taking calc senior year.
My second option, if accepted, is to go with the MITES program, which would teach me a bit of pre-calc and then calc over the summer in addition to the others courses I'm interested in. Then I could self study for the calc BC exam and mention that on my applications. I like this option because their alumni college enrollment track record is amazing, especially for MIT, which is my first choice. Also I would get a chance to see what MIT is like and learn about things I'm interested in. I'm worried that, even though I would be taking calc over the summer, it would look bad that I'm not taking calc my senior year. I'm also worried that the program might not be as beneficial as an internship, college admissions and education wise.
What do you all think? Thanks for any adive
