Urgent help with dishwasher

Basically the rod burned a hole in the dishwasher, found out I needed to get puddy. Before that I stocked a lot of duct tape in there to stop the leaking but now it's in the hole and I cannot get it out. Am I fucked. Can I still use the dishwasher after patching the hole with duct tape still in it?
