Why is this weird styrofoam still in the Whirlpool fridge?

My brand new Whirlpool fridge was just delivered and this piece in the back seems to still have Styrofoam in it. I don't understand why it's there and it seems to be blocking air flow. There's no seeable way to remove it from the back of the fridge. Shirley Whirlpool didn't design a fridge to always have Styrofoam in it though...
