Does any have a problem with inconsistent activity recording?

I just spend 90 minutes shoveling heavy wet snow and my Apple Watch seems to think I was sitting on my ass all morning. Usually it picks up the activity, but about 20% of the time it doesn’t. I also know of cases where someone has been standing for over an hour and then they watch dings them to stand up.
When I look for advice online every suggestion assumes that the watch is not setup properly or that it never works at all. But what about these intermittent failures. It’s not a setup issue
