Fat Swimmer with possibly a unique question about Watch accuracy?

Hello Apple Watch Bretheren! I’ve always been into casual swimming but never really had access to a pool and was always too depressed to make anything happen for myself. I am now on anti-depressants and proud to say that I have been taking much better care of my life and only body and have taken up swimming in earnest. Hooray!

So as a result I am trying to lose weight for my health. I use my Apple Watch to track my swims and and Lose It to track my calories.

The thing is I noticed that my fat makes me quite… floatatious. I DO NOT SINK. Like, at ALL, I didn’t even realize that most people don’t float without even trying until recently.

So, while it’s exciting to see that I burn 1200 calories in an hour I can’t help but wonder if that is wildly inaccurate. It just feels too easy? I’m wondering if my fat floating makes moving through water way easier than someone of average weight and therefore skews my calorie deficit on Fitness and Lose It. Now, I know that trackers and Lose It aren’t exactly accurate, but I guess I’m trying to get a handle on how inaccurate that calculation is when you consider my fat basically turning my into a human kickboard 😂

I love swimming and I love my watch and it’s great for my brain and heart. I mostly use it as cardio and only focus on as much technique as it takes to not hurt myself. I just worry that I am working with info that is completely wrong. Then again, maybe my ADHD is showing and I’m completely overthinking it lol

Are there any other cute & swimming fatties that have dealt with this? Or do any of you fit folks have any insight you could share?

(This is a cross post btw)
